edit this listing
Born in Finland, Marjatta now lives and works in Oshawa, Ontario. Since moving to Canada, she has studied a variety of art disciplines: oil portraiture, abstract and experimental painting, life drawing, watercolour, pottery and etching with artists like Peter Kolisnyk, Leslie Parks and Jim Paget and Moira Clark. Her recent work has been mostly in oil but she likes to also paint with mixed media (water colour, pastel, ink, crayon, collage etc.) and has also experimented with wood carving and paper cutting. A lot of her ideas for painting are based on memory and imagination. Marjatta has done commission work in portraits, children’s book illustrations, cards and posters. Her work can be found in private collections in Europe and in Canada. She is currently a member of the Oshawa Arts Association, Pine Ridge Arts Council and the Whitby Station Gallery.
